Mirrors, backsplash, cabinet glass & tops

Everything in a house that's made of glass and isn't a shower enclosure. All of it cut to your actual walls and furniture, in our shop, then installed by our crew.

Custom mirrors

The reason people call a glass shop instead of buying a mirror at a store: your wall isn't a rectangle, or it is but nothing off a shelf fits it.

  • Cut to template: angles, arches, radius corners
  • Notched around outlets, switches and sconces
  • Polished, beveled or safe-seam edges depending on how it mounts
  • Wall-to-wall vanity mirrors, gym and studio walls
  • Framed or frameless, clipped or adhered
  • Clear or gray mirror
On edges: polished is the standard finished look, beveled adds a visible chamfer that catches light, and safe-seam is the economical choice when the edge will sit behind trim or a frame. We'll tell you which one your job needs.

Back-painted glass

With back-painted glass the color goes on the back, so you're looking at it through a polished surface that cleans like a window and never needs resealing. The same glass goes behind a cooktop, on a shower wall or up as a marker board.

Backsplash

Is a glass backsplash easier to clean than tile?

Generally yes, and the reason is grout. A back-painted backsplash is one continuous non-porous surface. It wipes clean in a single pass, it's antimicrobial, and there's no grout line to discolor behind a cooktop.

  • Color matched to your cabinets, counter or wall paint
  • Cut around outlets and switches before it reaches your kitchen
  • Polished or etched matte surface
  • Full-height or standard backsplash runs

Shower walls

Back-painted panels in place of tile, so there's no grout to scrub or reseal in the wettest room in the house. Color matched like a backsplash, and installed by the same crew that hangs your shower door. See a shower we matched to the room next door →

Specify low-iron for whites and pale colors. Standard float glass has a green cast that will shift a true white toward mint no matter how good the paint match is. We flag it, but it's cheaper to decide at the estimate.

Glass marker boards

A glass whiteboard doesn't ghost. Dry erase ink sits on the glass instead of soaking in the way it does on melamine or painted board, so it wipes fully clean years in. Just as at home in a home office or kitchen as in a conference room.

  • Custom size and any color, with low-iron glass for a true white
  • Polished or etched matte surface
  • Magnetic backing and accessories
  • Frameless, standoff or J-channel installation

Cabinet glass, around thirty textures

The same textured glass works for cabinet doors, pantry doors, interior partitions and shower panels. Come to the shop and hold them up to the light. Photographs never do textured glass justice.

What is gluechip glass?

A decorative texture with a fern-like crystalline pattern, made by applying animal glue to an abraded glass surface and letting it chip the surface as it dries. It obscures the view while still passing light, which is exactly what you want on a cabinet door hiding mismatched crockery.

Table tops & shelving

Protective tops for wood furniture, self-supporting glass tables, and cut-to-fit shelving for cabinets, niches and built-ins.

  • Protective tops: over wood dining, console and dresser tops
  • Glass table tops: dining, coffee and side tables, tempered and sized to the span
  • Shelving: cabinets, niches, built-ins, retail display
  • Polished, beveled or safe-seam edges
  • Radius corners and custom shapes
  • Bumpers and standoffs where the top sits on wood
Thickness isn't a standard, it's a calculation. A protective top over existing furniture can be thin. A self-supporting glass table needs thicker tempered glass sized against its actual span and support points. We spec it to your piece rather than to a catalog number.

Glass wine rooms

A custom glass wine room built to the homeowner's specifications. Insulated glass helps hold the room's temperature while keeping the collection on display. We fabricated the frame in our Burnsville shop, and our own crew installed it. One shop handled it from measure to final install. Built in Hopkins, MN, with Zehnder Homes.

FAQ

Common questions

Can you make a mirror to fit an odd-shaped wall?

Yes, and it's most of what we do. Cut to template including angles, arches, radius corners and notches for outlets, switches and sconces. Edges polished, beveled or safe-seam depending on how it mounts.

How thick should a glass table top be?

Depends entirely on whether it's supported. A protective top laid over existing furniture can be thin. A self-supporting glass table needs thicker tempered glass sized against its span and support points. Tell us the piece and we'll spec it, and we'll recommend tempered wherever safety glazing applies.

Can you replace a broken shelf or table top?

Usually the easiest job we do. Bring in the broken piece if you can, or send measurements and a photo of how it sits.

How long does it take?

Most mirror, shelf and table top orders run about one to two weeks from measure to install. Back-painted and specialty pieces take longer depending on color matching and finishing. You'll get a date at the estimate.

Can I see the textures before deciding?

Please do. A screen flattens texture and shifts color, and daylight in your own room is the only test that counts. Visit the shop, or ask us to send samples.
